I prefer "font" of useless knowledge. I was wondering if there's an accepted usage, actually.
... Is that weird?

I've never heard "fount" either--always "font." Strange. Fount makes sense, but it doesn't sound right.
Of course, I'm the person who gave you "obstinant," so who am I to speak?...

Stick to your guns, reesetee!
Font implies a bowl to contain baptismal water - i.e. some potential sloshing about of the eventually stagnant holy water, but no actual flow or replenishment. Fount does imply an in/outflow.
So, if you are like me, and have an inexhaustible supply of useless knowledge, which is constantly being replenished at such wellsprings of popular culture as VH1 and Entertainment Weekly, then clearly, from a fluid dynamic point of view, fount is the correct choice.
Next thing we know, c_b and skipvia will be trying to persuade us that the expression is "the full mountie".

"Come thou fount of every blessing..."
Or, what sionnach said. :-P

Ooh, the full mountie sounds like an awesome way to spend a weekend. ;)
Sionnach, you can be a fount if you want, but I'm a font. People come to me as to a shrine, for sloshy facts and knowledge that is occasionally but mysteriously replenished. In secret. When no congregatation is looking. Also I'm cold and made of marble.

Now I have the image of moldy holy water in my head. And a cold, marble bear. In chains.
Actually, I realized I'd put it on the wrong list (my list of madeupical words), so I did delete it from there. But now that this page has become such a FOUNT of entertainment, I think I'll add it to another list.
